The Bay That Knows Its Own Beauty
Coastal Vietnam at Its Most Confident
Nha Trang has long carried the air of a city that knows its own beauty, with a crescent bay of turquoise water framed by mountains, dotted with islands, and lined by a boulevard that is part tropical resort and part coastal metropolis.
Nha Trang has long carried the air of a city that knows its own beauty, a crescent bay of turquoise water framed by mountains, dotted with islands, and lined with a boulevard that is part tropical resort and part coastal metropolis. Unlike Vietnam’s quieter shores, it moves with genuine energy: dive boats depart at dawn, beachfront cafés fill by mid-morning, and a bay so calm and clear has drawn snorkelers, sailors, and sunseekers for generations.
The four-kilometre beach, ranked among the finest urban beaches in Asia, anchors the city, while the surrounding islands make Nha Trang one of the country’s premier destinations for diving and snorkelling. Hon Mun Island holds the region’s richest reef systems, while Hon Tre Island is home to Vinpearl, a resort and amusement complex reached by one of the world’s longest over-sea cable cars. Inland, the eighth-century Po Nagar Cham Towers recall the Champa Kingdom that once ruled this coastline, and the mineral-rich mud baths of Thap Ba offer a distinctly local ritual set against tropical hills.
The city’s cuisine reflects its identity as a fishing port, from Bun Cha Ca, a fish cake noodle soup made fresh each morning, to grilled Nem Nuong and seafood hot pot brimming with lobster, crab, and shellfish. Whether on a sunset sail through the outer islands, a day diving its coral reefs, or an evening along the beachfront promenade, few cities in Vietnam wear the sea as naturally, or as joyfully, as Nha Trang.

Heritage Beside the Sea
Nha Trang’s heritage extends well beyond its beaches. The eighth-century Po Nagar Cham Towers recall the Champa Kingdom that once ruled this coastline, while the city’s identity as a fishing port endures at the table, in Bun Cha Ca made fresh each morning from the day’s catch, in grilled Nem Nuong, and in seafood hot pot brimming with lobster, crab, and shellfish.
